It is understood that for things to function in any given situation PH is critical. It is essential to maintain a proper PH balance in order for anything to work properly. From a single chemistry experiment to the maintenance of a swimming pool. Our bodies are no different.
PH stands for potential of hydrogen. It determines whether a substance is acid or alkaline based on the activity of hydrogen ions* in a solution. The PH scale is a logarithmic representation of that activity that goes from 0 to 14, 0 being the most acidic and 14 the most alkaline. Acidity is determined by a higher concentration of positively charged hydrogen ions (H+), inversely, alkalinity is determined by a higher concentration of negatively charged hydrogen ions (H-).
It is important to understand that 'slight' numerical changes in the scale are not slight at all, they will affect EVERYTHING greatly. Since the scale is logarithmic it increments in tens, each value being progressively ten times the previous. So a substance that has a PH of 5 is ten times more acidic than a substance that has a PH of 6, and a substance that has a PH of 4 is one hundred times more acidic than a substance that has a PH of 6, and so on.
The human body must maintain a slight alkaline PH in order to FUNCTION. So let's pause here for a moment and think about what that means...
We are the chemistry experiment that will fail, we are the swimming pool overgrown with bacteria. Who controls the PH of our bodies? We do. Just like everything else in life, we get what we put in.
Different foods have different PH values. It is imperative to understand the difference between the PH value of a substance before and after it's been ingested. Food that has been ingested and metabolized produces a residue, or ash, much like ash is produced after literally burning that same food, which burns the food but leaves the mineral content intact.
The lemon, for example, is acid. After being ingested it's broken down into carbohydrates and then further into carbon dioxide and water, leaving a residual ash made up of alkaline minerals. Therefore, even though a lemon is acidic, after being metabolized it produces an alkaline ash. With that in mind, when we talk about a particular substance or food being acid or alkaline, I will be referring to the ash that food produces inside the body, regardless of whatever PH value it had before being eaten.
ACID FORMING FOODS: all meat, dairy, eggs, coffee, alcohol, processed white flour products, sodas, drugs, artificial sweeteners, refined foods and sugars.
ALKALINE FORMING FOODS: raw almonds, cold pressed olive oil, fresh fruits and vegetables preferably in their natural state, all green foods and algae.
A morbid acidic environment in the body is directly produced by diet. Ingesting too many acid forming foods produces acid ash that can overload that body's natural ability to neutralize it, creating a condition called acidosis. This is the basis of many unwanted conditions and degenerative diseases. When we are perpetually acidic our bodies simply cannot heal themselves. They become prone to infections from bacteria, parasites, yeast and viruses.
Candidiasis is a condition that arises when there's an overgrowth of candida albicans, a type of yeast. Candidiasis can create many problems and conditions, from rashes and yeast infections to unwanted weight gain and chronic fatigue. The only way to fully recover from cadidiasis is to restore our internal flora to a proper PH balance.
Other conditions arising from unbalanced PH also include frequent colds, cancer, arthritis, osteoporosis, heart disease, insulin disorders and diabetes, high blood pressure, premature aging, bone spurs and calcium deposits, lactic acid buildup, depression, anxiety, hormonal imbalances, adult acne, weakened immune system, weak and brittle bones, and neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, parkinson's and alzheimer's disease.
To think that cancer could be stopped and completely eradicated by shifting our PH balance to more alkaline levels...
We live and die at a cellular level - Cells MUST maintain a slight alkaline PH in order to LIVE.
